What is: Cephalexin 500mg is an antibiotic, prescribed in treatments of urinary tract infections, otitis media, bone and joint infections, pneumonia, cellulitis, and streptococcal pharyngitis. The drug is also a good alternative for patients with mild sensitivity to penicillin, although in patients with strong hypersensitivity to penicillin, caution should be exercised.
How to use: take the Cephalexin 500mg tablets exactly as your doctor has directed, do not increase the dose on your own, and always take the pills for the entire duration of the course, even if you feel better sooner. Swallow the tablet with a full glass of water and in case of adverse reactions, call your doctor immediately.
Side effects: Cephalexin 250 mg is well tolerated by most patients and allergic reactions are extremely rare. The most commonly reported side effects are diarrhea, dizziness, headache, agitation, indigestion, stomach pain, tiredness, and joint pain. Peeling skin, unusual bruising, yellow skin or eyes, decreased urination, confusion, and severe cramps are amongst the possible serious side effects, but they are extremely rare; nevertheless, in the case of persistent or strong adverse reactions, medical help should be sought as soon as possible.
Missed dose: if you miss a dose, take one as soon as you remember. It is almost time for the next does, then skip the missed dose and carry on with the treatment course. If you overdose accidentally, seek medical help immediately!
Storage: keep the Cephalexin 500mg tablets in their original container, away from heat and moist. Keep the drug away from the reach of children, do not share it with anyone else, and dispose of the expired tablets in a safe manner.
